I cooked my goose years ago, but the odd tart comes in useful at this time of seasonal goodwill to all men. Not one with a stilton though, as the oven door won't shut. :snowball:

In his 1807 Almanach des Gourmands, gastronomist Grimod de La Reynière presents his rôti sans pareil ("incomparable roast")—a bustard stuffed with a turkey, a goose, a pheasant, a chicken, a duck, a guinea fowl, a teal, a woodcock, a partridge, a plover, a lapwing, a quail, a thrush, a lark, an ortolan bunting and a garden warbler—although he states that, since similar roasts were produced by ancient Romans, the rôti sans pareil was not entirely novel.

For a more modern confection, check out the "turducken".

I'm a bit jealous of your location... Beautiful place.

For many years we had cheese & pesto sandwiches with a wedge of Christmas cake, wensleydale cheese and a mug of coffee, usually dug into a snow drift on top of a mountain somewhere, but the UK is lacking snow drifts on mountains in latter years, my bad leg is still not up to walking very far and I am now allergic to dairy products so I suspect we will settle for a (vegan) Thai curry (homemade) or beans on toast as we did last year with us being out cycling!

By some magic, a goose has turned up in the fridge.
My mrs told me to come home with some old spice (or was it five spice ? spice girls ?)
