I very much enjoyed the early ones, with the Diane character in it. I used to watch them on my little portable when I lived in the US.
Never watched it but I do appreciate it was toward the top of US comedy.

Now, seventies soviet sitcoms, priceless! Their version of Terry and June, Pavel and Olga, is class.
"What are you up to, Norm? My ideal weight if I were 11 feet tall." is still one of the funniest lines American comedy has produced.
I think this is the essence of it. If you watch it, you get to know the characters, and a line said by someone else would not be funny, but for the characater you know, it is funny. Probably one of the reasons humour works well in sitcoms and not so well in Hollywood filmsone-liners made funny by knowing the characters saying them
