It may have been when it first came into view, but in the UK the only chance is early evening - low in the sky to the West before it sinks below the horizon as the earth rotates. You need to be up high with a low horizon for your best hope. Been cloudy here last 2 nights - tonight is clear, but it may be too late for me unless I head West to clear the high ground.

There's been a fair few pictures in recent days of it rising at dawn, mostly from NZ, Australia or Tazzy... makes sense that the northern view is at the opposite end of the day

I asked AI to show the 'real' me.
i thought that was only visible in the dawn glow, in the southern hemisphere?

These were taken at 11:00 at night in Hobart, Tasmania by one of my sisters.

It's better than Halley's Comet was, but that's not saying much.

Hale-Bopp was incredible.

Edit: Just stuck the phone on a tripod for a 4-minute exposure in astrophotography mode. NOTHING!
Maybe I'll try again on Sat night.

I saw diddly squat this evening, but maybe better luck on the way back from the Supreme Show on Saturday night, then.

Cloudy here, but the clouds are an odd shade of grey, and my phone could pick up the aurora albeit faintly - green with a sort of central red blob. If it were clear, the sky would be on fire right now...
