Pain in the aris. Had the trains been running we would have gone into town for beers and to watch the Pride Parade in Manchester. We're going next Sunday, as my lad is working and we will get half price food. Will also go 'bee' hunting.

Rail replacement/improvement works on the day following the strike, between Leeds and Manchester/Blackpool.

Don't bank on it just being Saturdays when there are very few trains - Northern train drivers don't have to work Sundays if they give a week's notice, so you might find a lot have chosen to take the next few weekends off...

That only applies to the North West, drivers on the East side have different conditions & Sundays are part of the working week,(ie a normal day) :okay:

"The RMT union has announced that its members working for Northern are planning to take further industrial action on Saturdays 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 September."

First dates for next month, and it's not just Northern this time.

Northern has released the first of its train timetables for the Yorkshire and North East areas during planned RMT strike action taking place on Tuesday 3 and Thursday 5 October.

The train operator aims to run around 1200 services across the North, 46 per cent of its normal timetable, on both days between 7am and 7pm.

Two 24-hour strikes already arranged on Northern for 22 and 29 September are now set to go ahead, and further Saturday walkouts have been called for 6, 13 and 20 October.

On South Western Railway the RMT has announced a 48-hour strike on 5 and 6 October, affecting a Friday and Saturday.

Out on Thursday and Saturday this week.

Northern expects all services to be extremely busy, especially in the morning and evening peak periods, and is advising customers to allow extra time to travel and consider whether their journey is absolutely necessary.

There's industrial action this Saturday, and planned for every Saturday left this year.

Train service will be starting later, finishing earlier and with fewer actually running.

To be fair, I'm pretty hacked off with Arriva / Northern.
It's been (at best) a joke since the timetable change, they've just announced more changes that means you won't be able to travel from the Calder valley beyond Leeds without changing, (despite having direct trains to York and Selby for as long as anyone can remember) as they look to run trains to Chester instead on some unwanted "inter-urban express dream" and the strike has made it virtually impossible to use the train to visit family and friends on a weekend.
And now it's ben announced that the Government (that means me and you) are chucking £282 million a year at the German owners of the company to keep it going.
