No it's not hostility crank, it's responding to your unfair generalisations when Thomas is trying to do something constructive (which is a lot more than can be said for the armchair generation on here that like to spout and do nothing at all) and I don't think he fits the bill of being an incompetent cyclist like your 'all' students generalisation.
Besides I think BM has a point, the OP was about cycle paths and police stopping all cyclists - some students happened to be stopped also.
I'll have the cup of tea though if you're offering and maybe a sarnie!
A sarnie!!!!! It's elevensees, not lunch time

. Did you not have porridge for brekkers this morning to keep you going until lunch? Tea and biscuit on their way.
Did I write '
all' students?
Moi sloppy and lazy .......
Can I not be a cyclist and a DM reader

? Are they mutually exclusive?
I suspect what has happened is the route is frequented by many cyclists a large proportion of whom are students racing to lectures at 2 minutes to 10am. Now far from me to cast aspertions on ALL students' cycling capabilities or lack of them, but from observing the many I have seen in the wonderful city of Cambridge, many are dangerous loons. Had this facility that Thomas writes about been used by a few local cyclists, not students, then I doubt very much the police would have even been there. I suspect a member of the public or two, pedestrian or cyclist, have complained to the police or LA which has resulted in the police taking action. IME police are just not bothered with this type of thing. That's my 2ps worth.
