At Davy's suggestion, here's a thread for this very topic..
First off: I'm obviously interested myself, with the rather important caveat that it would have to be a date I can actually make. Christmas pressure at work starts in a fortnight and there's no possibility of leave until the 25th. I'm in for the FNRttC on the 9th as Sat/Sundays are overtime, and I was out on the Sunday night anyway so I haven't put my name down for either day. I don't want to miss out on too much of the extra dosh available, though, so I wouldn't want to be out on another weekend before Christmas. Davy's idea of the 28th & 29th is possible- the leave possibility is open again, though whether I'll be able to take it is another matter. Friday 30th would almost certainly be OK though.
As to where: I'd prefer southern coast options. Bognor would be good again, and if anyone fancies somewhere west of that, I'd like to do a dry run to my home town in preparation for the Southsea FNRttC in April. Not forgetting the classic Brighton option...

Thanks for starting the thread.
Between Christmas and New Year is best for me, pretty much any day (night!) as I'm off for all of it, and as of today I have a pass, although there's plenty of time between now and then for it to be withdrawn.

As for destinations, I do like Bognor but that's because it always feels like you're going downhill... But I've no real preference and if there's a non-standard destination that might be more fun.

The other problem I have is that FNRttC rides are so well organised I invaribly pay no attention to which direction we're going in, so a destination someone knows quite well might be a good option

That will not be a problem!

If anything happens, I may be up for it, but that's more likely if like last year it happens after Christmas, otherwise I'll be down the south-west.

Thanks Stu for starting the thread.

I think the basic criteria is a pub/bar at the end that will serve when we arrive and cheapish/convenient trains back to LMNH for a jolly belated Christmas drink or two as some (I for one) are missing out on the Christmas do on the 2nd December..

And Dell, I cant see anything around about Titus organising a ride, do you know much more?

Bump: Titus has posted the details for his ride- a short daytime one on the 29th followed by drinkies at LMNH. So, I suggest doing the night run on the 30th- apart from the probability of me not being able to get leave for the Friday (though I will nonetheless investigate), I think most people would need or at least prefer some rest & recuperation between the social and night rides.
And yes, this is me offering to organise. Route preferences anyone?

Looking at Titus's drinks thread, I would say its best to do this night ride on the 28th, to say Brighton, where breakfast and drinks on the sea front awaits and then cheap, frequent and quick trains await to take those who wish to LMNH's and join the congregation there mid-afternoon.

The 30th would mean a big quandary for those going out to parties on New Years Eve and would also mean am out, sorry.

Throw a sickie, Stu. That's what they all do at my place, come Christmas.
