To get this back on topic...I enquired about leave last week, and hopefully have odd days sorted for the post-Christmas week (woo-hoo! ) as there were slots free, though haven't had that confirmed just yet. Should therefore be OK for this & the festive drink/pootle Thinking of doing two rides, weather permitting....

OK, still waiting to hear RE my own leave, but Brighton on the 28th it provisionally is. Weather etc permitting, classic route via Portnalls Rd, Reigate, Turners Hill & the Beacon. Suggest for midway stop we annoy the jobsworths of Gatwick.

I was thinking, is there anyone who can check if that parade along the Maderia that we get booze from, will be open?

And, I really cant be done with cycling back, so will see if I can get a cheap ticket soon, so if whoever is coming and training it back, might be best to agree on train times?

No idea about the first bit. As for cheap tickets: best option will be groupsave into London Bridge (£29.80 any time after 9 for four people) or Victoria (£10 advance fare, not groupsave, at 10ish, £31.80 groupsave super off-peak single for four from the 1019 onwards). No need to fret. 1024 from Brighton only gives us 36 mins to get to HPC...

People would be looking at getting up to the station at 10:00 or just after. I don't think we have ever got drinks from any of the bars much earlier than that.
For preference I'd go for 10:19 Victoria. Fewer stops to worry about, perfect for HPC.

Would that be so we can feature in the Fnrttc Ride & Drinks too?

Stu, the groupsave looks best bet as compared to an advance, curiously...

Super.

Right, so, here goes.

Leaving HPC at Midnight on Wednesday 28th with a half way stop at Gatwick (yeh?) and finishing at Brighton. And those coming back to London, by train, were aim for a groupsave on the 10:19 am train to Victoria, to enable participation in the Fnrttc Ride and Drinks. All correct yeh?

Roll call, for there and train back

Davywalnuts. Train back.
Adrian. Train back

Ahem. I'm guessing this isn't a huge ride. If I'm right, delete Gatwick and substitute Hall Towers for coffee, tea and sticky buns. Or mince pies. Or both. Soup is a possibility.

The downside to this is I'll have to clear up a bit.

And if this does go, I (or we) will ride down for the first half.
