Indeed I did. Their nests are things of beauty. And I let the offender go free this morning as well. Don't really like killing anything except mosquitoes and horseflies. Mind you - it looked distinctly unverocious after having been shaken around in my sleeve and dropped onto wet tarmac.

I thought they'd gone down here too. I was dodging the waves on the seafront at the time - one would have thought the Mid October Surf Wasp was a creature of fiction. When I felt the sharp burning pain I thought "Ow! That feels exactly like a wasp sting!" but didn't really believe it - I ended up taking the blighter with me for another half mile before I decided it was painful enough to stop for.
