I’m using Halfords puncture repair patches and glue which have been fine on continental bike inners, but now I’m applying it to this garden cart inner tube it’s just not sticking.

Rough surface, apply glue to patch allow to dry a bit, apply patch...Pick patch up off floor.

Did you also apply to inner tube? Then leave both to dry. Then apply to both surfaces a SECOND time. Leave to go tacky. Then apply. Don’t pump up till several hours later.

I don’t know. You gardeners eh!

DONT do it out in the sun.

Apply twice? No I’ve not tried that yet.

And if it can’t be done in the sun it’ll have to wait until night time!

That ‘apply twice’ trick is sorcery amongst vulcanists. Try the magic. The sun bit was mentioned because the glue needs to go off slowly. Too quick and it dries before it vulcanises.

But doing it in the dark is great fun. Especially when it gets in your hair. You catch loads of moths too.
