My son is disabled. Suffers from cerebral palsy. I take him to play football in our local park as he enjoys it. What he doesnt enjoy is the dogs that are left of the lead and left to run riot.
Already we cant use the grass area as its covered and plastered in dogs sh**t. My son also does not like dogs so the owner telling him that he will be okay and his dogs like people is not going to wash.
I dont want your dog running up to my son and jumping up at him. Also he is profoundly deaf as well so shouting even louder at him isnt going to work.

We have a field opposite our house and some dogs have caused problems for my children. A big boxer dog jumping up and chasing them is scary when it is two thirds your size.

Also, they use our front garden as an extension of the field - come through the hedge, cross the road and crap on our lawn. I had to collar two dogs (labrador & a spitz) which came down the side of our house & were harrassing the rabbit the other day. The owners were too busy having a chin-wag to see where their mutts had gone and I had left our side gate open.

Most owners do tidy up now, though, after the council put a poop bin out.

agreed sorry it was on my mind I didnt mean all dog owners just the ones the ruined it for everyone else

But you are right to be ticked off about it.
A dog, and whatever it does, or does not do, is the sole responsibility of the owner/person walking it.
No ifs or buts.

I like dogs, not enough to own one but owners really need to be fastidious about cleaning up the crap, and the dogs need to be kept under proper control at all times, would it be an idea to introduce your Son to a "nice" dog under controlled conditions to help with his fear of them ? you never know, He might make a new pal. It might be an idea to pester the local authority to enforce the fouling laws, maybe adding signs and a bin, when my local council had a little purge on dog owners the news spread fast, it could do with a refresher though, some places are becoming a bit of a minefield again, yeuk!

You imply nobody did it until a bin appeared. Some of us do clean up when we can, regardless of dog bin, which incidentally is usually full and needs emptied, ironically probably making it more of a health risk than if the crap is randomly in the bushes/long grass.

What a lot of non dog owners don't appear to appreciate is that if you are walking your dogs at night, or in long grass, etc, it isn't always possible to see where the crap is, even with a torch (seriously, some of it just seems to disappear into undergrowth and bushes - I assume thats where wild animal crap goes too?) and we haven't even started on the joyous subject of diarrhoea, or, in fact, escapee dogs yet, so if you happen to step in something, it might not actually have been left as a product of laziness as everybody seems to think.

Also I normally keep the dog on the lead these days (although Cindy is such a sook she wouldn't go far anyway) but I am just getting right pis*ed off at people who seem to take great delight at tarring all of us dog owners with the same brush. Its all too easy to forget the caveat, 'Don't mock something until you have tried it' (we all do it admittedly, including myself, I know, and I apologise to everyone I've done it too recently - what I'm saying is that things aren't always as black and white as you'd like them to be).

For the record, dogs seem to be a prize subject on this forum and have seen plenty of the above before, so just getting my punches in first, like. :boxing:

Since I'm on the subject, non dog owners are one thing, but probably the biggest bunch of self righteous twats I have come across are the people who apparently NEVER forget to take a poo bag or two with them and/or expect everyone else to be the same 24/7, and don't seem to account for simple human error.

Now, let me point out here that there is a difference between a lazy owner who couldn't give a.... Err... Crap, and the genuine owner who tries their best but is, believe if or not, simply human sometimes.

If you have a dog, then it'll probably happen to you at some point. Imagine the scenario, you will be out, sometimes miles from home and the dog does the toilet. It is only then as you fumble around in your pockets that you realise that you have forgotten that you put on a clean jacket that day without any bags, or have simply ran out and didn't realise/forgot/got distracted, etc etc.

It happens to the best of us, even the dog trainers themselves!!

People who say this never happens to them are either:

A. Lying
B. Obviously OCD or Autistic or similar
C. Have nothing better to think about
D. Haven't had a dog for long enough

Or

E. Just being a d*ck.

A lot of us try to have bags on us, but as I say, sometimes we are just human, ok?! This will account for a small percentage of the dog crap you see lying about, and in some cases, the owner of the offending dog might be back to pick it up later, it does happen you know! (Although it does all look the same, especially when there are others nearby, and as I also said before, it can do the disappearing trick ).

WTF?

Here we go again, both owner and dog are not, I repeat NOT somehow psychically connected, if a dog wants to say hello to you then they will, and can be determined despite what the owner tries to do, it's like having a small kid in tow who's just determined come hell or high water to do something regardless of what you do. If you kick my dog just for being over friendly, particularly whilst I am trying to deal with them then yes, you bloody well WILL be responsible, especially if you injure them.
