They've been trying that on racing motorcycles since the 80s with Bimota's Tesi the Elf Hondas and some of the Tony Foale designs. Still looks cool though.

In a much simpler form Mike Burrows used this successfully on the Windchhetah

He also introduced it on the Giant Halfway, but the concept was not popular, so later models were changed.

A single sided fork is a better concept and allows tyre changes and puncture repair without removing the wheel
