Bit of a difference though User. Cipriani is not getting picked at the moment so hardly giving up England and he is still young enough to come back to stake his place at number 1.

Some of the world's best footballers have never had the opportunity to play in a world cup (Giggs and Best to name two) and I think Bridge will live to regret his decision in later life.

Bridge throwing a strop and giving up England.

How can anyone aspire to be a professional athlete and then not want to compete at the highest international level?

The same way as other folk who do not aspire to demonstrate their skills at a perceived higher level in other fields of activity sporting or otherwise.

Paul Scholes did as well. I believe there may have been a non publicised reason though in his case.

I can understand Bridge though. He would have to play with someone who betrayed him in a very serious way.

If I was already earning £5M+ a year in a fairly pampered job then I don't think I'd take too warmly to having to do a lot of extra work and travelling for very little extra money.

I think you're completely wrong. Obviously you don't like footballers, which is fair enough, but even the superstars aren't primarily motivated by money. You can tell that from watching the effort they put into reaching finals and the fact that very, very few ever fail to turn out for their country if picked.

Cipriani is moving to Aus to improve his Rugby, by playing a completely different style than he's used to in England. He has plenty of time to return to the England set up.

Bridge on the other hand seems to think he's in an episode of Eastenders, surely he ca put this whole situation behind him and get over it.

How can I be wrong? I'm merely expressing my own opinion.

I can understand where Bridge is comming from.

Perhaps in the interests of the nation Terry should offer his wife to his former team-mate as a sacrificial shag in order to balance things up and restore Bridge to the England squad.

i think you need a reality check. would you really want anything to do with the person who'd slept with your girlfriend?
