Theoretically the shareholders could reject the offer - unlikely with some of the biggest already saying they'll accept it.

Capitalism with no restrictions on its scope will inevitably produce this sort of result, and we've collectively taken the political decision to allow it, so shouldn't complain too hard.

Sadly the current retail price means I'm giving them a miss.

There's still loads of Christmas leftover stuff going cheap.

With the least regulation in Europe its not surprising our major companies are all being gobbled up by foreigners.

What's the big fuss? Cadburys have already sent most of their jobs abroad, so nothing really to get up in arms about on the job front.

If you are paying zillions for a brand you want the product. So cleary they will not be changing it. Would make no sense.

Cadburys chocolate is crap any way. Didn't Europe try and stop it being called chocolate?

What is it with Creame Eggs- it is cheap chocolate egg filled with wet sugar.

I know everyone is getting dewy eyed about Cadbury chocolate. But, it is simply dreadful. An injection of some American business acumen may result in something akin to chocolate actually being sold. So, from my perspective - optimistic that we may see improvement.

I wish Cadbury's could be owned by someone who finds a golden ticket in a creme egg. Yeah, they should make a film about that.

3000 people work at Bournville. Not that I think the factory is in danger (yet), but communities struggle with jobs losses that high.

Plus the hundreds who work for Magna in Telford making Easter eggs and selection boxes all year , with Cadburys chocolate.

Yes but they have already farmed out something like 20,000 jobs abroad.

Why is there more danger of any UK jobs going if the firm is in the ownership of x instead of y? Surely any business apprasal of the company would reach the same conclusion for both.

I bank at Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corp, I drive a Peugeot (that happens to have been made in Coventry), I am presently buying apples from New Zealand and cannot remember the last time I saw any product in the shops that was actually made in the UK. Meccano is made in France now.
I do have some loyalty to buy british food but have for many years avoided Cadburys as it is sickly sweet shite. As soon as you try decent chocolate you realise how bad Cadburys is. They have got big simply by cutting out the opposition rather than by making a good product. Unless they want to bring back "Old Jamaca" I really dont see any reason to rant.

As a someone from that corner of Birmingham I am a bit of a fan of Cadburys Bournville dark chocolate but can't stand thier milk chocolate. Either way I am not to happy to see that some second rate American plastic cheese maker has conned the greedy Cadburys board into selling out to them.
