having moved house over the weekend i have found the easiest route to work is 0.2 of a mile shorter than my old commute so now i have to take a slightly different route with a hill to get my bang on 10 miles each way .
On the flip side the easy route is nice if i feel cack as i have just clocked my highest average commute speed of close to 19 mph for 9.8 miles.

I know that feeling. My commute is 5.9 miles but the route I take is 10.8 miles. I get shafted by hills either way and tbh they don't ever get any easier I just get up them slightly quicker.

Nothing wrong with a minimum target distance.

If I go over great, if I go under then it can be rather annoying and could mean a couple of trips around the block to see the numbers tick over on my GPS .

my new job is 1.5 miles in, so I do that and then do 23 on the way home avg 18/19 mph.

But it does mean willpower is required when the weather is bad.
