Wash it in the rain. My bikes are kept in the garage, but I'll wash the bikes on the patio near the outside tap. Rain jacket on and a bucket of hot soapy water and you are done. Wheel bike in garage or house then lube the chain.

I can only really see an issue if you life in a flat, and have to bring the bike outside.

I'm just a wimp I love riding in the rain, but cleaning in it just sounds miserable.

It's a room that is designed to get people and stuff clean, with lovely and easy to clean surfaces.

Yeah, I live in a house share (only way I can afford the place I'm in) and someone grumbled at me using the shower to clean my walking boots (I cleaned the shower after, of course)

Never understood the difference between washing mud off skin or off goretex?

Breaking News........

I have just cleaned my bike in the rain

Me too. Yesterday afternoon I washed and rinsed my bike in the rain. I put on wellies and a coat with a hood the bike was already wet anyway, seemed like the obvious thing to do.
Then I put it in the garage to wipe down, clean the chain properly. Then when it had dried out a bit more, I went back to lube the chain, polish the frame and oil the rest of the moving parts.

I have a confession to make...

When I did my first Manchester - Llandudno ride in 2015 my bike got covered in sand. There had been a storm a few days before and deposited loads of it on the cycle path.

I was staying in a brand new Travelodge. The room I was staying in was pristine and it was clear that I was the first occupant. The nice manager let me keep my bike in the room. I was cycling the next day so I needed to get the worst of the sand off the bike.

So I put it in the shower cubicle (there was no bath) and rinsed it down. The sand went everywhere. I really tried to clean the cubicle and surrounding area up afterwards but it looked like a kid's sandpit when I was done.

Sorry Travelodge for making such a mess in your nice new hotel

We have a wet room here, but I used to lob the bike in the bath, in our old place . First time I did it, Hubs looked at me in horror and I just said "What"!

As I pay half the rent, half the council tax and half the bills (and before that, half the mortgage) I am entitled to use whatever room I blimmin' well like. If I want to clean my bike in the bathroom that I pay for, I can. I've had a couple of boyfriends (before Hubster) that were horrified. I honestly can't see what the big deal is. It's a room that is designed to get people and stuff clean, with lovely and easy to clean surfaces.

To be fair he's moaning because you'll get the coal wet making it harder to light.

Yes, I also have no outdoor covered space to clean my bike. Usually it's the commuting Brompton I need to clean so I just hope for good weather, which explains why its so dirty most of the time.

Oh, and I have no garage or space in the shed either.

Well if its one of those pig ugly bromptons, just fold it up and throw it in the washing machine........

Hose the bike off, or bucket of water/ watering can as soon as I get back from ride to get the grime off and salt off the drive train. Then use wet wipes later on in the evenings to actually clean the bike.
