I've never understood the lure of a new kitchen, unless the original kitchen is totally manky and even then it's a B&Q special. I'd much rather have a new bike than a new kitchen. Then again, I don't want to be a slave to the cooker, dishwasher and other domestic gadgets and have no friends that are either.
On reading the first part of your post, I thought "I could marry that girl". After reading the second part I changed my mind.

Same thing happened to us!

My wife wanted to research a Thorn Rohloff bike

We went to St John Street and I quite enjoyed the ride of the Raven Tour

Then came the "Well it is our 25th Wedding Anniversary, why don't we buy a pair!"

So I became the proud owner of a Thorn Nomad

Either that or she wants a new kitchen. They always want a new kitchen. I mean, a kitchen's a fecking kitchen, why the hell do they want to spend six or seven grand so the drainer is on the other side of the sink? I don't demand a new garage because the bike hanger is two steps away from the tool cupboard.
I have never wanted a new kitchen. I've ended up with a couple by default, but not cos I wanted one.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
When I was dithering about which Rose Xeon to get, alloy or carbon, my wife settled it for me - 'you've got alloy bikes, get the carbon - after all it might be the last bike you ever buy' .......

ie "It will be if I find out how much it costs".

No - it wasn't like that - she knew all the details - I think she was helpfully pointing out that given my 'advancing years' and medical history I may not be around for much longer - bit of a double edged comment really:huh: Hope to be able to celebrate reaching my 8th decade with another new 'best' bike, might have to get another winter bike in the meantime, though.
