I have 3 NowTV boxes in the house, I only use Now TV when I can get free or cheap vouchers, most of the time I use them for Plex.

If you only want freeview then that's usually built into most modern TVs

Ok, I see what you mean. We have a Humax freeview box with hard drive to record. Our broadband here in the sticks is a bit slow at times to use the internet to stream.

I had a Roku, I never used NOW TV however, but did use it with Amazon Video, BBC , Channel 4, and ITV, there are also countless free channels with movies of varying quality, and youtube, but I got tired of it's slow, clunky user interface and gave it away only last week!

If you go to cancel now tv they will generally offer you a deal, I never pay full price for the passes. just set a reminder to cancel when the deal is due to end.

The NowTV boxes have the on-demand for all the main terrestrial channels if you've not got a smart TV (and even then, not every TV has them all). You can have up to 4 devices on an account, so you can buy two boxes and share the vouchers. You can also load Spotify, which is what I use it for most (my TV's connected to the stereo).

'Kodi boxes' are boxes which run (among other things) Kodi. Kodi is open-source media player software which is available for all sorts of devices, from PCs to the Raspberry Pi (which is what I use) to Amazon Fire sticks and to boxes running Android. The power is in the add-ons, which allow Kodi to access media sources, some legal and some not.

Buying and owning an android box is not illegal, selling a "fully loaded" or an android box loaded with illegal pirating software is illegal. You can however buy a bog standard android box and download the software yourself which is freely available on many websites.
I have an mxq box but it does not have Kodi on it, the box runs the same software as an android mobile phone so is limited to using android "apps" .
Available to buy on Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/SUSAY-Android-MX-P-Amlogic-S805/dp/B00X597V8C

Yes.

I have a couple of NowTv boxes.

This is mainly due to the lack of live sports coverage on Freeview. I originally got one when England Rugby Union matches were only live on Sky.

NowTv is perfect if you want to watch Sky Sports for a particular event without having to shell-out wads of cash for the full Sky Sports subscription, or for that matter, if you don't want to 'chav' your house by hanging a satellite dish of it.

I mainly use it for the IPL Cricket and the occasional Test series. I generally get a month pass which is about £33, although as has been mentioned previously, they are very quick to offer you cut price passes if you haven't bought one for a while.

Downsides? You need a semi-decent broadband connection and the streaming uses up your bandwidth. I do find the streaming to be very slick though, and I have normal broadband, not fibre-optic.

You can usually get the box for free as part of a bundle with one of the Sky passes.

Another benefit is that the box will turn any TV into a smart Tv giving you all the catch up channels.
