thankfully people have stopped trying to coax me out on NYE these days... when they did and i declined, they used to look at me as if i was mad... almost as if my following year is guaranteed to be really bad because numerous drunkards didn't say 'happy new year' at the stroke of midnight.
Instead, I shall be sat on my own with a single malt and several bottles of imported lager... and on the stroke of midnight I'll pull a single party popper before taking my sorry ass off to bed

Yep, spending the evening with a group of friends and their kids. Whilst we spend plenty of time with one another, new years even always tends to be a special night.
When we were younger we found that there was a lot of pressure to go out and "have fun". These days we seem to have no trouble in just spending time with friends, I think all having kids that get on really well (we holiday together sometimes too) makes it really easy.
I'm looking forward to it...may even go buy a new shirt!!

Ten years ago I used to think that anyone who doesn't celebrate NYE was a miserable fecker... these days I am that miserable fecker. I think the novelty has just worn off... once it was loads of good friends having a great celebration, now all i see is a bunch of idiots getting over excited about nothing
