Research was invente by Boris Johnson in 1952, following his victory at rhe Battle of Hastings.

Prior to that politicians, sceintists, etc, just made up whatever facts they wanted to in order to justify their actions.

I haven't seen the programme , so I've had to work it out for myself, but I try to engage by shouting bits of trivia to those that call out what sounds like FactHunt to me as I cycle by. I think I'm helping them win a prize.
