odd noise when changing through gears???

i was lubing my chain and flicking through the gears and they started to make a really weird noise, almost like a scraping/stretching sound from around the middle of the bike....not the usual noises at all....ive no idea what it is...anyone got any ideas?
 
catching on the front derreluer? ( I can never spell that word!!)

You may have upset something while flicking through the gears.
Try putting the chain on the middle chain ring at the front, and check that the gear shifter is also on mid position. Now turn the pedals slowly and all might fall into place.
If not, select a mid gear on the rear shifter and put the chain on a mid sprocket. Turn the pedals again and it might fall into place!
If not, check that the chain is running through the jockey wheels on the hanger and the hanger is tensioning the chain running towards the bottom of the front chainwheel.
If it's still not right, take a cup of tea and repeat:smile:
