I have my granddads walking stick. I am 78 and have (i think) a vague memory of him) so the walking stick will be at least 75 maybe 80+ years old.
Similarly I have his barometer hanging up in my hallway.....it still works.
My grandfather worked at Rolls Royce Derby and during the war he worked on Merlin and later Griffon engines, they not only built new engines but also rebuilt engines that were in service - I have the top half of a Griffon piston that he used as an ashtray, it would've been a used piston that was beyond tolerances to be reused, to this day I sometimes wonder what stories it could tell.
