Long day yesterday picking up eBay bikes. I've had some great deals so it was bound to happen..

Picked up a Claud Butler Urban 200 frame...didn't notice when collecting that the rear triangle was much narrower than it should be. Beyond cold setting. Swapped it for 3 MTB wheels with a friend who does some scrap runs (he asks first!)

Also picked up a polished alloy MTB, not over special but at least enough saleable parts to recoup the cost. Would have been useable but the bottom bracket is seized in - bust my bench vice holding the tool and turning the frame around it! More scrap then.,.,. - Not a total waste as the parts will transplant onto my Felt MTB frame

Had the wrong address picking up a 90s Diamondback for a mate who wanted a cheap hack - another wasted trip

Thankfully the £10 1978 Sparta Windsor is an unusual and good condition beast. The downside though is that was meant to provide a couple of bits for my puch restoration project. Now it looks like I am making a Puch SS/Fixie and having an old school 20-ton Dutch bike - and both for myself.

No wonder I never make any money out of bikes...

Wow..they did turn around today.

Picked up the Diamondback from 1995 going by the style of Altus components - not top drawer but serviceable. £36 and it could go on the shop floor as a new bike, all original. Shame it's the one I spotted for a mate who has just upgraded to a '14 CAADX Tiagra and wanted a hack bike for commuting in work boots and shopping.

Although did pick up a 1993 KHS MTB for the same price for a bit of personal retro - looking forward to taking it to work tomorrow as we used to import & distribute the KHS range at the time of this model. Not as clean but will respond to an afternoon stripping and rebuilding.

So it looks like the KHS will be an N+1....I say again, no wonder I never make any money out of bikes

It's cursed!

I finished off the KHS last night, new stem, sprayed the bars to freshen them. Replaced the Altus rear mech with a non-original but period (to the year) Exage 500. Fitted some red Vitoria Saguaro tyres, not top notch, not original but look the dogs on the red/blue frame

Took it to work, half way there it hammered down making the bike filthy. Wiped it down, took some photos at work, uploaded them to Google Drive to retrieve at home tonight....things went wrong with that AFTER I deleted all the photos I took 20 minutes taking

Maybe the KHS just wants to stay at home with me rather than selling........
