I guess one could always stop, pause, and pull out of a pocket a really big yellow duster type cloth*, then go back and exaggeratedly polish clean the bit you touched, before riding off with a cheery wave.

Best to spit on the cloth for better cleaning, of course.

*You'd have to be prepared, unless you normally carry such a thing.

Actually it would be better to spit on the car first... then there's no danger of them driving off before you've finished the job.

Though it's not a yellow one.
I think Auntie Helen can confirm...

Best I've managed was variously to laugh, to blow a kiss (a personal favourite, works really well with young males) or, reserved for BMW's, wriggling the little finger.

Remember that those who drive like the own the road do not generally even own the vehicle they are driving.
