Fair do's to Catherine, and 'good on yer, girl'. It was an instinctive reaction on her behalf IMO to an affront on her, otherwise, reasonable sensibilities.

I'm not sure if i was 'right' in the following instance, but it made me feel good.

There was a shiny new Merc or Beemer parked in the cycle lane t'other day.

The road layout is thus: 2-way traffic in the middle, then parked cars, then c.2.5m cycle lane, then pavement, and shops, bars, etc. A few paces onto the pavement the proud new owner is showing off the car to his mates. Then i come along looking big and scruffy in my hi-vis padded, orange builders jacket. I squeezed between the legally parked cars and the bmw/merc making sure to leave greasy palm prints along the length of it. They didnt say or do anything. They just stopped talking.

I live on a farm an often used to drive tractors around the roads doing jobs etc. You would almost always meet someone in a 25-30k BMW or Mercedes who would point blank refuse to move aside on a tight country lane so there car wouldn't have to touch the hedge or go through a pudle etc. but would insist that I drive up the embankment, or whatever, to allow them to pass. The fact that the tractor I usually used was worth about 3 times what there car was usually escaped them and it didnt matter if it got scratched/dented.
