My Samsung LCD TV (about 4-5 years old) has started playing up when turned on.
It takes much longer to show any picture or sound and just clicks repeatedly for approx 10 secs. Then it either shows no picture at all or it seems faded and dark with low quality sound. Turn it off then on again and after the initial clicking noises, seems to be fine.
Anyone know what may be wrong with it and whether it's dying on us? and if it can be saved............cheaply?

Capacitor problem normally, if you are handy with a soldering iron can be fixed for a couple of quid, there was a large batch of Chinese made capacitors which were made to lowest price and spec and they wear out quite fast.

Open up back and at main switch point you will see 2/3 large capacitors, 1 or more of which will be swollen, get some replacements and swap out.

Can also search online as common problem for quite a few manufacturers.

Thanks for that Stonepark. Not a project for me I'm afraid, but, if it's a common component problem, I guess I could get it repaired quite cheaply and easily, yeah?

Call 01932 454358 Samsung and see if they will fix it first or if they have a local repair centre and see what they will do, otherwise it is probably about £50 for a repair man to do it, capacitors themselves are only £5 at most.
