My wife has a friend in Japan who does the traditional Japanese form of horseback archery, yabusame. It is really quite awesome.

That looks great fun. I'd be somewhat handicapped by the fact that I can't ride a horse and am useless with a bow even on solid ground mind ...

I haven't been this year as never seem to get the time but shoot recurve, quite often barebow when the club was indoors.

Dads just given me his recurve and all his kit to sell to raise cash for a new bike...If there is anything left over I may try and get a longbow!

A fellow club member let me try his (home made) longbow. A thing of beauty to look at and so light and nice and pleasant to shoot.
However if anyone turned up at the club with one I'd try and get onto a target at the other end of the range or risk spending half the afternoon helping them to find lost arrows.
Fairly long grass and arrows with very little metal for the metal detector are a pain to find.

When I was a lot younger I joined the local archery club which met in one of the hangers at Calshot Activities Centre but but was never any good. I would like to try an 180lb longbow just to see if I can draw it
