Dusted down my old Langster at the beginning of this splendid start to the new year and have been banging out miles after miles ever since. After a long break...(too long), got the FIXED bug again... Anyone else?

Came back about 4 and a bit years ago, I stopped in the early 1990's, my first ride on my new Pearson was a fifty miler to a favourite Café, I discovered I had forgot how to ride fixed and scared myself silly on some of the steeper descents but came back with a huge grin on my face, fixed has had me grinning regular and often ever since.

Since New Year I have been doing my commute (30 miles) on my fixed and really enjoy it.
Had not riden it for a while and forgot what fun it can be :thumbsup:

Government Warning: Riding fixed is highly addictive and any freewheel equipped bike will feel very boring in comparison.

I'm not hooked. I can stop riding fixed whenever I want.... It's not a problem. OK? I'm OK with it... (starts to mumble incoherently).

:wacko::bravo::hyper::wahhey::sun: :girldance::hyper: Etc....

My fixed wheel is still out of action, so I'm on my geared bike for now; it still feels like a bit of a treat to be able to coast, when I remember that I can...

I have been 'fixed' rather than 'free' for a couple of months, although I haven't ridden that much. Learning slow-speed control and choosing ones stop points is a lesson...Overall, not bad and keeps me focussed, but I am not tearing around all over the place - just steady..."It's a journey, not a race" etc.
Although, today, I was gently balancing 'a la fixie', 10 metres behind a bus in the bus lane and 'BOOM' - I was T-boned. By a pedestrian with two bags of shopping! Twisted my new brake lever and left me scrabbling around on the A5 - that's the third time now!

bad luck Aperitif. it seems everyone is out to get us - pedestrians, drivers, other cyclists.. :blink:

Thanks. Two guys got out of their van as the woman was prostrate and ko'd - like a boxer on the canvas. They helped her to her feet, I collected tons of shopping from the road, and eventually, she set off to try and cross the road again...ten metres from traffic lights and pedestrian facility! I 'advised' her not to be silly - and she took notice. I fixed her with a stare - couldn't have done that on a geared bike! Hope you're getting better too, Rimas.
