OK, so who's gonna cycle to work tomorrow?

didn't cycle today - it didn't snow at all in Brighton but elsewhere it did. I could see the cycle path that I would have cycled on from my train journey - and it was completely covered. Not sure about cycling tomorrow - looks like most of the snow is disappearing, but not sure I fancy cycling on ice covered paths.
Might take my MTB out though...

At least it gives me a chance to clear out the stuff I accumulate at work!

Doesn't anybody actually work weekends or are you all M-F 9-5ers?
M-F 7 am till 4 pm or this week 8 pm till 5 am
Still undecided as the cycle path part of my route is liable to be treacherous, it will only have had about 20 people on it all day so it is still going to be covered in snow .

Went for a ride yesterday as the weather was so nice (-4C when normally we get -15) got passed on a slow residential street by a SUV. The female passenger (Blonde, about 24, and face like a bull dog ) must have been a distant relative of Paddington Bear based upon the extremely hard stare she gave me. I pulled down my face mask and blew her a kiss and gave her a wave.

I rode in today without a problem on the mountain bike. Roads closer to home were still covered in snow so was hard going but managed until I got onto the main roads which were fine.

On the way back however, on the untreated roads for the last half mile back home were covered in black ice. Was very slow going with one foot down testing the surface out, had a bit of wheel spin but got home intact.

Was going to go back on the road bike again tomorrow with 23c tyres, but after the last section of the commute being as bad as it was, I might be taking the mountain bike - just cuz if I damage a bike coming off I'd rather it be the crap one.

Sorely tempted to put the knobbly tyres back on the MTB.. Trip in and most of way home the roads are clear and fine.. Though we live halfway down a lesser travelled hill so coming home at 11pm its sure to be an interesting ride..

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Went in today and up to Headingley on slicks, but kept to main roads.

A but slidy, but worse were the cars who were using all sorts of lanes to avoid the ice.

The majority of SE London's roads are clear now.
Only a couple of back roads still have slush/snow.
So back to the normal longer morning commute for me today.

Side roads were ice rinks following all the snow having melted then started to freeze by 7.30pm last night. The bike nearly slid away from me putting it on the road, until my fat butt sat on it, and it was fine once the studs dug in  . The Trans Pennine was very icy - great fun flying over the puddles.

I MTFU and did my commute last night .
Going into work was fine as the roads were clear and the cylepath had melted so i thought " ooh that was easy ".......

Coming home was a different matter , the cycle path had frozen solid and i took my 1st fall in over a year when even at slow speed i had to turn and went onto some frozen snow and the bike just slid from under me.Pride more damaged than anything else
I was going to take the cyclepath into town then use the road the rest of the way but after the slide i changed my mind and went for the cross country route only to find part of it had not been gritted so it still resembled a ski slope in places so i ended up walking about a mile until i reached a safer section .

Will i be on the bike tonight?? Of course
