Mains ok if you keep away from the frozen stuff in the gutter. Usual little roads a complete no go as solid ice, so I found myself on short bits of 3 lane " dual" carriageways, no problems though. Nice to be out on it again, very busy with traffic though.

I rode to Macc on the main roads this morning on my carbon bike running 23s. One icey bit but spotted it well in advance. Wouldn't want to ride any of the less used country lanes though.

So does mine.Just shed a kg of dirt off my chain/derailleur, that clogged up with crap the wheel would hardly go round as I hand pedalled it whilst up on the stand.

Very icy around here this morning for my first commute in three months. The very thick fog had deposited moisture all over the roads and that had frozen solid in the sub-zero temperatures. The road outside my house was an ice rink so I walked the bike to the end instead of riding hoping that the main roads would be better. I could not see any evidence of gritting on the main roads so there was plenty of ice but it was especially bad once I made it onto the back lanes!
My clothing was dusted with white ice on the leading edges, as were my brake levers, shoes and panniers. I encountered a patch of heavy fog with a cloud of floating ice crystals/snowflakes that I saw and felt hitting my face. Very beautiful but cold.
Tomorrow is forecast to be pretty chilly once again in the morning so I don't know whether to ride on the trunk roads to work or take the lanes again.
