In the sellers desccription:


"The only piece missing are the 2 wooden hand grips which fit on either end of the handle bar. The handle bar is fine and it was my intention to get 2 sections of wood turned to fit on each side - this is not essential as I doubt anyone would ride this down the street !!"

Lol, well I would! Look a bit daft though! But I prefer a a more modern bike! So I'm just getting an ancient bike next week is much cheaper than the one above. Would you ride it?

Hadn't thought of that! It will be really uncomfoertable to ride (I'd still ride it though, just fora short distance!)!

It was bad enough on Sunday whilst cycling down a couple of cobbled roads on an old road bike with my brother sister and her bf who were all on motorbikes: my brother thought it would be a good idea to go down the roads near the museum near town! I was not happy

Mine is mostly original - the wheels have been replaced at some point in its 140 years - and it is bloody horrible to ride. The most I've ever done before the vibration gets me is half a mile.

Just out of interest, how easy is it to ride a penny-farthing without ending up in hospital or killing yourself? And how do you stop?!

They are easy with plenty of practice and when you have overcome the fear.

Trips to hospital are all part of riding a Penny - you are going to fall from time to time.

Yes, that much I figured out, but what I can't figure out is the following equation:

Penny-farthing has stopped, so ...

big wheel + no momentum + legs miles from the ground = incredible pain

Surely?!!
