Saw Gordon Lightfoot last night in Manchester and what a disappointment. I know he's 77 and has almost died twice but he can't sing any more, that strong rich baritone voice has gone completely. The excellent supporting band carried him all the way.

It's the same with other ageing stars, McCartney, Daltrey, Townsend, Elton John, they can't reach the high notes and ought to retire. They've got enough money!

Ian Anderson was starting to struggle with the high notes a bit last time I saw him.
No he shouldn't retire, because it was still a damn good gig. What a talent.

Saw the Motley Crew last year and Vince Neil was poor. Thankfully the 'warm up act' was Alice Cooper, who stole the show TBH, so wasn't a total wash out.

Agree. But then again Vince Neil has always been pants. Alice however... seems to be getting better. I'm so looking forward to the Alice Cooper original band resurrection.

I saw The Who (what's left) on their last tour, Daltrey sounded great and I think the rest of the sold out crowd would agree with me.

And the money comment says it all, they've got enough so why do you think they keep on doing it!

To maintain a lifestyle which gave them plenty of money at their peak. They may have huge pots of money relative to ordinary folk but unless they keep working it's unlikely they can keep their lifestyle going without continuing to work.

My brother went to see Dylan a couple of years back and wishes he hadn't.

I've seen Neil young a couple of times in the past decade. I love Neil Young. His big plus point is that when you start out with a crap voice it doesn't get any worse!

I seen Dylan about 8 years ago and thought it pretty amazing performance, okay is voice isn't what it was (and you could argue he couldn't sing in the first place) but he really put his heart and soul into it and stayed on stage for about hour longer than I would have expected.

But why would Mick Jagger for example need more money? If his wealth dropped from say 300 million to 100 million because the Rolling Stones stopped touring, surely he/they could continue with his/their lifestyle.
