Following on from listening to a program on local radio the other day, who still uses old technology? I have a few things, an old Electrolux cylinder vacuum cleaner from the 70`s which does a far better job than the modern cr*p, my cooker is a Belling from 1981 and is far more solid and trustworthy than the modern day offerings (I can still get all the spares for it). I love vinyl as opposed to digital music and still have a fair amount of stuff on video.

Up until last year my central heating boiler was 35 years old and I only had it replaced because it rusted out - not through choice!

Anybody else got any old stuff in regular use?

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
My clothes. I can't throw my old stuff away, as I'm still wearing it. I probably have clothes that are older than some people here.

I've just bought a new laptop with Windows 8 as the OS. Fortunately I've retained my old XP laptop. It might be glacially slow, but at least I can do grown up's computing on it, utterly impossible with this W8 tosh.
Not tried Windows 8 yet, I`m in no rush!

I'm currently wearing a shirt i bought in about 1992. Still have lots of vinyl but tend to pile crap on my turntable so seldom listen to it... digital music stored on the PC is just easier, and doesn't need dusting. My mobile phone looks like this...

Also been using one of these today...

i prefer the older stuff it was built to last not like now everything is built to throw away and buy new. i used to have an old hotpoint washing machine i got it off someone i knew and she had it for about 10 years i then had it for about 8 years and it worked fine the only reason i got rid of it was i moved house and the place i went to had a new machine in it. that was the worst thing i ever did. iv been told by folk in the electronics shops that stuff like washing machines now are only expected to last 3 to 5 years before needing replacing there not designed to last any more which i think is stupid

Still using my Bang & Olufsen Ouverture system from 1994. Admittedly the music source is now AAC files rather than CD or cassette(!), but the amp and speakers do the same job today they did then.

Purchased as a student 1983, still in use in our study.

Purchased in the third form at school, 1973 or 1974. Still sits on my desk at work. Was in regular use up to a year or two ago but I confess it's usually easier to use the calculator on the laptop now.
