I still think it's a pretty crap system which, two weeks after applying for your tickets, leaves you wondering which one of three or four events you'll be attending. What's the next step? Do they send you a cryptic crossword clue which you have to unscramble to find your event? Or do you have to do some kind of Krypton Factor thing to discover the next bit?
Still, I'm glad you've (possibly) got what you wanted.

Not wanting to put a downer on things but......I thought the pay your child's age tickets were only at low demand events and didn't include any finals? I only remember seeing PYCA tickets for prelim/qualifying rounds when I was applying.

I fully accept that I may be totally incorrect!

I'm glad that you said that, adscrim, and that User76 responded because that was my (mis-)understanding too. My local event (under 1km away) is the rowing lake which also had no PYCA tickets for the finals days, so it looks like the ticket sets we got are both for non-final days.

Given the number of people who got none, I'm pretty happy that we got 2 days.

i still find it utterly ridiculous that you apply by lottery and you find out you have tickets when they run off with your money...

The Lottery bit makes sense. Although to be really fair, I think they could have operated a system whereby once you'd got anything for one event (assuming they allocated each event in turn), you were discounted from further draws, so that more people get something, and you don't end up with some people getting nothing, and others loads of different stuff.

Be interesting to hear if it is possible to apply directly for tickets in Europe using other country's allocations.

A chap on the radio the other day had got through three ballots! He was then moaning about how much money he had debited from his account. If he didn't want to go, he shouldn't have chuffin well bid should he?

But that's what's so ridiculous about the whole system. If someone really wanted to go to some events, they could either a) apply just for the events they wanted to see - Men's 100m final, say - and risk not getting tickets, or b) apply for a shedload of events in the hope that they'd maybe get tickets for one or two of them, and definitely not all of them. I don't understand why we as a country seem to have made the most magnificent bollocks of the whole ticket buying process. Why such a complex system? I'm just pleased that I have not the smallest interest in the whole event and am thus unburdened with the need for tickets of any kind.

It would have been nice to be allowed to apply for tickets, unfortunately my Constabulary have put a blanket leave ban on across the force for the duration of the Games....Not Chuffed at all!
