...and bored s**tless as with my knees there is sod all I can do other than sit on benches in towns and villages etc - though there have been some fun parts such as clay pigeon shooting and somehow ending up in a nudist garden. Anyway, boredom has lead to stress and it's at the point where I am being offerred a lift home now (2 hour drive) - do I take the offer or would this piss off the parents to no end and result in a stressy and crappy summer until I bugger off to uni?

P.S. apologies to anybody that lives in the cotswolds

Uh oh - being 'offered' a lift home with a four hour return trip - you must be driving your folks crazy. Just chill and use this as recovery time, and have a few pints with lunch.

What's so special at home that you expect someone to drive for 4 hours to take you there? If the answer is sitting on sofas rather than benches, then stop being so self-absorbed (the euphemism for selfish) and try to help the lives of those around you rather than moping about.

Hopefully, the most important lesson from Uni is that the world doesn't revolve around you.

Why not save your folks the time and hassle of driving you home, instead get a grip, so being so f'ing stroppy and be thankful they are still willing to take their ignorant, selfish, self-absorbed teenage son away with them, while no doubt picking up the tab for you unreasonable and trucculent behaviour. Why not thank them, and try not to ruin what is left of their holiday?

In fact, why are you there with them, you are going to Uni, maybe you could be standing on your own 2 feet and doing a summer job instead of being stroppy?

Just a thought really, have a great time.

Bit harsh that one -
I've tried looking for a few jobs which I am able to do...i.e. no standing up/walking around etc but there is nothing nearby. All I am doing on this holiday is holding everybody else back, I can't walk round towns, gardens, shops etc or do any of the outdoor recreational sports on offer here. They have been pretty patient, but it is obvious that my lack of mobility is annoying everybody, yet obviously they don't want to say that. I've offered to just stay in the room + lounge so that they can go and do what they want but that just lead "you obviously don't want to take part" etc etc. I'd much rather stay here for a morning/afternoon than sit on a bench in some town or stay in the car for a couple of hours, but this is just seen as not wanting to participate.

It's a bit bloody unfair if they get annoyed if you go and annoyed if you don't!
Have you explained that you are offering to stay behind so as not to hold them up, and that it is pretty boring sitting in the car/on a bench? (I'd guess you have...)

What you need is gardens or whatever that have wheelchairs to borrow - see how fast you could go in a racing wheelchair! Bet such places don't exist, though.

Can you get hold of crutches? Being a fit young lad, you should be able to manage a fair turn of speed on one leg
(or is it both knees that are bad?)

Anyway - sympathy!

Do you like planes ??? head to Kembel and see numerous airliners getting scrapped or if you like fluffy farm animals head over to Cotswold Farm park........much better than some old cock flapping around !

There are plenty of places these days where you can borrow a wheelchair to go round. You don't have to prove that you are a blue badge holder, registered disabled, or chronically in need of one. Just say that you have dodgy legs at the moment.

Have a look on line at somewhere close-ish by.
