I have a slight niggle in my right hip flexor. I've never had this pain before, but recently, on the upstroke I'm starting to feel a sharp pain there. I recently moved my saddle back as it was too far forwards and causing me untold rear chafing, so I imagine that has something to do with it. The only other thing I can realistically imagine, would be cleat positioning. Obviously both cleats are symmetrical on both shoes, however, my feet aren't the same length, so the painful cleat could be too far forward (smaller foot).

Other than that, I'm stumped. Anyone had this before?

Moving the saddle back effectively increases height, it could be your new set up is to high. The general rull is 2 back = 1 up approx so you might need to drop the height slightly?

Put your saddle back to where it was before, would be the first, most obvious thing to do. Secondly, if you are consciously pulling up on the upstroke, then don't.

Saddle is 1000x better than it was, so moving that back wouldn't work. I think I may try lowering the saddle slightly and see what happens.

Cheers guys. The 0.8xxx method has always been way too low for me. I did raise it slightly a few weeks ago, thinking about it. Before I moved the seat backwards. I'll have a 'proper' look in the morning.

I have in the past got over leg pains with nothing more than careful attention to pedalling technique.

I have got over legs pains by paying more attention to my daily stretching regime. Which reminds me I have got to get back to doing them more diligently.

That too, just reminded me my left hip flexor/back has been playing up but it could be just lack of stretching / damp/ chilly , right hand has a bit of arthritis and when its cold/damp it complains .
