Probably close to 2 grand, but zero on motoring, so not all bad.

I think I may have spent your quota as well as my own...

edit:
...actually, I did not think it was too bad. But a pair of wheels, a new groupset made quite a dent - and there the bits and pieces as well, so maybe a few hundred.

My advice to anyone starting off is to buy the 'best' you can..

I don't know about that.

The Aldi cycling shirts, jackets and gloves are still serving me well several years after their original purchase.

I did not say the 'most expensive' I said 'best'

The best socks I have ever bought were Aldi. So ask.

But I have also learned that a 'wee bit more' can pay dividend in the long run....

close to 3 grand... but that includes 2 bikes, a garmin, a helmet cam and repairs from a crash.
Would have spent more than that on travel and gym membership if i didn't cycle

One bike, two wheels, two tyres, 33 puncture repair outfits, 6 tubes, 4 brake blocks, 1 chain, 1 sprocket, 1 pair shorts, 1 pair leggings, 1 pair pedals - about £160 all told. I've probably forgotten one or two things...call it £200.

I keep remembering things I have bought last year ... it includes (but probably leaves out a lot):
new jacket
new helmet
Service
New chain
Lights
New Pump
Brake pads
Gloves x 2
Bamboo base layers
Merino socks
New buff

That bit probably adds upto £450 at a guess....

and we won't touch upon my clothing spending... not cycle specific but bought to be able to cycle in...

However I get paid mileage for work related cycling journeys and it more than covers the above (though maybe not entirely the clothing part:blush:)

I don't think I bought anything much last year.

1x Tesco torch and twofish lockblock or was that the previous year?
some PR kits
sold a saddle, bought a saddle = even 'ish
Some Aldi drinks bottles but they were not actually for cycling

and that's it. Oooh, OK, 1 Garmin Forerunner 305 but that's for running .......... and cycling but I'm not counting that. I may bend that some of the cost is for cycling.
