Austin 3 litre i think. Not sure i ever saw one...ever, so presumably quite a rare car in the first place let alone now

Not a big seller and I guess a failure commercially but I remember seeing the occasional one as a kid. I don't think there was anything particularly wrong with it and it was very comfortable and spacious by all accounts. Presumably the contemporary Rovers, Jags and Mercs had more appeal to the provincial bank managers and managing directors of the time

Other than being badly underpowered, seriously thirty, ugly, and more cramped inside than the 1800 from which it was derived due to the shell being modified to take a transmission tunnel...

The ride was supposed to be sumptuous and they were comfortable, but beyond that it lacked all the attributes required of an executive level car.

A thing I remember from when it was launched was criticism of the appalling fuel consumption, something around 12 mpg as I recall.

Been seeing about teh death of John Stapleton on the telly

which is sad - he seemed to go some good stuff

but my reaction was also "Wow didn;t realise he was that old"

but I have realised that in reality I realised he was older than us

I just didn;t realise how old I am!!!

I've heard them wish I'd never sold it thoughts for years .... What you need to remember is that when ya sold it that;s all it was worth, cos ther were millions of them about .... 30 years later, most are junk, but if someone has a minty sparkly one, you can bet its had £10000 or whatever spent on it to keep it like that .... then all you need is to find two people who want to relive their yooof and away you go ...... a mate of mine fell for that, spend a whole heap on a minty Mk I Golf GTI...to relive his memories of when he was 17 ..... problem is he's not 17 any more and modern cars are way better ..... After a month he had to sel it cos it was too hard to live with as a daily driver..... Memories are way cheaper

Yup
people forget that rareness leads to value

so anything that you keep in a nice dry place and keep working will eventually become rare

and if it is the sort of car that doesn;t last long - such as anything that can be souped up and is them likely to end up on the wrong side of a hedge
or anything that is notorious for rusting

becomes rare and increases in value if anyone wants one

so a mint condition Lancia Beta is a shoe in if you put it in dry storage 40 years ago
