Makes me happy with my Exposure. I wonder what the real lumens vs claimed lumens is on an Exposure? Mind you, I guess we could buy a new magicshine every year for a couple of years for the price of the exposure, and it's hard to tell which one would be better value based on this.

I was going to suggest buying x2 of DealExtreme's famed light? But then realised Magicshine make this as well ........

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.25149

One thing I've always wondered is the currency of the price they quote. Is it in 1) US dollars or 2) Hong Kong dollars? As DealExtreme is Hong Kong based not sure.

If anyone whose bought one could advise so I can calculate a price in Sterling that would be great. How long did it take to arrive?

No idea on the conversion, but this site has it priced in sterling at £53.37

Given that the maufacturer of the light is Magicshine, the BestOfferBuy site you link to must be another derivative of DealExtreme. In their blurb they say they are a Singapore company based in China having supplied 1/2 million customers. They also give a one year warranty. Not sure whether this warranty would be worth the web page it is printed on. If you buy with a credit card and it goes wrong then your consumer rights can be enforced through the credit card company if you need to enforce them .

.....remembering the spend has to be over £100 for joint liability to apply. It's only recently that overseas transactions are covered as well (last November from memory).

Now should I get a second head unit for my Betty....heehehehehheaa!!!!

I was thinking of buying two to make use of this protection, but not sure whether one would negate this protection if one bought using Paypal as Paypal IME are crooks.

However reading comments of owners it appears the light's battery pack soon gives up. No one seems to have had a replacement from DealExtreme. Others have opened the battery pack and replaced the x4 rechargeable batteries which has solved the problem.

true, LED technology seems to be progressing mighty fast. I'm looking forward to something that runs on a tiny disc battery, throws out a lot of light, doesn't overheat, is really small and the battery lasts for months.

The one that was for sale for £53 is different to the one in the OP?

I'm looking to get a new front light as my EL530 is currently held together with a cable-tie and some gaffer tape!

The original magic shine can now be bought with 3 or 5 mode from dealxtreme - 5 mode more usable as it has a low mode and it has a UK charger - that's $79 / £53

The one in the OP is the new high powered version - $120ish , but only available from US at present (so likely import duties)....

Give it a few months to find out about reliability, or go for the 5 mode single lens magicshine.

Or did I miss something and it has a dip function?
Several somethings, at a guess...

the web site in the original link said:
  • 4 Lighting modes; Short Mode, Far Mode, High (all), and Stepless
  • Stepless programming. Choose from 5% to 100% power output using the Command Control Button
  • Lighted Command Control Button with 4 level LED battery level indicator and backlight: Green = 100% charge, Blue = 75% charge, Yellow = 50% charge, Red = 25% charge
