I had the same thing yesterday. Couldn't be bothered to ride, but promised myself I'd head out. I just couldn't get comfortable on the winter bike. Legs aching, feet & ankles aching. Massive headwind. Labouring up climbs. Managed almost 40 miles, then got a puncture, and then I punctured my spare tube putting it on.
"There will always be days like this, but the good days far outnumber them" I pondered philosophically as I waited for the train.
Top tip: Always ensure your toolbag is well stocked. Never assume that your small children haven't removed all your patches.

As for crank lengths that is so strange as when I was riding it felt as though my knees were going to rub my ears which since the bike fits I've not experienced, however on raising the seat an inch I found my legs were functioning somewhere close ish to normal again, it really was instant, i'll stick with the saddle height for now as that's where it feels comfortable and see how I get on.
