Can you buy spider matches?

Just call me Chris...
Had to evict a huge one from the front room only yesterday. I actually thought it was a mouse to start with as it thundered across the carpet until realising it was just too big to be a mouse

When I say "evict," I actually mean "waited for the Wife to evict" whilst I pranced around on the settee screaming in terror

My mum is quite scared of spiders and had heard the same, so festooned windowsills and door frames with chestnuts.

After I'd stopped laughing, I pointed out a rather large spider sat on top of one in the kitchen.

The next time I visited there were no more chestnuts.
Bloody 'Metro' telling me porkies, who would have thought any paper would lie to you.

Did she pierce the chestnuts? You have to do that for it to work apparently, it's no good good putting your unpierced conkers on the window sill.

I think it works, from my own experience - but yes the mice love them. I might try stringing a few conkers and hanging them in corners - the mice wouldn't get them then!

Paging @Fnaar...

She did not, and my parents have since moved to an old farmhouse in the North Yorkshire countryside. I suspect even a pierced conker would probably be eaten by the spiders out there, probably as the beast giggled and flicked the V's.
