The dog woke me up in the small hours, asking to go out. Since this prevents me from scrubbing the carpet whilst calling her names, I groaned but got up and let her out into the garden. I had a wee myself ... and then went back to bed.
I woke up at 7, utterly confused about why all the lights were on and wondering where the dog was.
The penny dropped, I raced to the back door. No dog. Back to bedroom, threw some clothes on, got to the front door ... and there she was, crying with desperation. "I had to stay out ALL NIGHT. It was dark and I was scared. I love you."
I think she'd spent the night sleeping under my bedroom window. I feel horribly guilty. She will be one spoilt Labrador today.
