More often the not it does mean you get up to speed much quicker then if moving off from an ASL.

You also have a vehicle in front of you as a buffer against an ambler gambler coming the other way.

And while you're waiting behind the first car a cheery wave or thumbs up by way of a "hope you don't mind me cutting in here" to the driver of the second vehicle usually reaps dividends in the way they treat you when passing further up the road.

I stand corrected. I've never seen one though.

I expect they're rather rare.

A couple (or more) like that in Hull. The only legal way to get into that box, and stay, would be to enter it on light change to amber, like a car !?

In Hull, a police station recently opened on Osborne Street, opposite is a road with an ASL, and the number of police cars I have seen sat in it
