As a child I remember a local bloke used to dress up as Santa and knock our door on Christmas Eve. He would always have a present for us (obviously given to him previously by my mom and dad) and I actually looked forward to that present (and seeing Santa) more than Christmas Day.

Now we still open 1 present each on Christmas Eve although this year will be the first year me and the OH will spend it apart. So I won't be opening any presents until the 28th!!!!

That sounds like a lovely tradition and I'm all for keeping family traditions. But the tradition in our house is none before the day apart from when it seems appropriate at the time its being given.

I can honestly say I have never opened a present before Christmas morning

I remember many years ago, my cousin had asked Santa for a BMX and then a few days before Christmas wrote another letter to Santa telling him that he didn't need the bike as he'd found one in the boot of his father's car...

Work Secret Santas are allowed, but presents from my parents, friends and boyfriend aren't opened before Christmas Day. My friend sent me a parcel from Hong Kong (she's living there for a year) and I got my mum to open it, fish the card out for me, then reseal it and put it under the tree. No peeking allowed!

My niece is coming over today though and she'll be opening all of her presents from us as her mum is taking her away for a week, leaving on Christmas Day. She's got a hell of a lot of presents. I can't wait, my brother got her a Wii and Mario Kart, it's my favourite.
