It's easier going from triple to double. Converting to a triple will need at least a new left shifter, front derailleur and crankset. You may also need a new rear derailleur and bottom bracket. I'd estimate an LBS would want around £200 for parts/labour. Not worth it imo.

OK thanks !
I ordered my Orbea Aqua with a triple and it certainly didn't cost £200 extra. If you're buying the bike new, just specify what you want and the shop will tell you what it will cost.
Ok thanks ! Where did you buy it from ?

The question is ... why?

If you are in the market for a new bike and want a triple, then buy a new bike with a triple surely?

If you change the components on the bike immediately you get it, you may possibly be messing up any warranty you may have.

If you think the Orbea is a good deal, and may still represent a good deal even including the cost of a change to a triple, then ask what the triple is for? Is it just to give a lower bottom gear? If so that could be acheived more cheaply by sticking a different cassette on, and possibly a long-cage rear mech?

I am asking that question ! Can I buy an Orbea Avant with a triple ! I dont want to buy one and then change the components.
Have you looked through their website fully? Contacted a few retailers, like cycle surgery, Leedsbicycle, epic bikes?

Or get a frame set and build your own
