Are these as good as I've read? Worth the £100 +/- ?

How water proof are they? I see some reports saying 100%... But I'm always a bit doubtful.

Shop around and you can find some Back Roller Classics for £87.

Been looking around this evening and I did in fact see some for that price.. Can't remember where though.. Not to worry, I'm sure I'll easily find it again.

Cheers for the replies; I had a feeling that this would be the case.

You will find loads of cyclists who like them and me included. There are others that are meant to be good too but I wouldn't know which ones that are. Definitely waterproof - if you spill something in the you have to turn them upside down to get the liquid out or use a cloth to soak it up, but that doesn't happen very often.

Here for rides.
fill 'em, roll 'em shut, put 'em on, chuck your bike in the canal.

Your stuff comes out dry. Waterproof? Dang right.

It was someone on CC that said they'd dropped their Ortlieb pannier in the Kennet & Avon canal and the contents were still dry when he'd fished it out... whether it was seconds or minutes i don't know, but it did convince me they were waterproof enough. They are a bit pricey, but the cost is quickly forgotten about.

I wouldn't buy anything other than Ortlieb pannier. My first set lasted over 5 years before I sold them with a bike and they didn't show any signs of giving up.
They do seem pricey at first but a few years down the line and you still have a reliable, waterproof set of panniers you will be glad you paid the extra.

They are superb. Very waterproof, not let me down all last winter having upgraded to these. Got my front roller classics for £65 the pair. Evans price matched SJS Cycles, and because I picked them up, they worked out £5 cheaper than SJS as there was no postage.

YeeHaaa, they've arrived!!

Shame the morons sent the rack I ordered, without a single fixture, not even a single bolt or the arms that bolt to my bike!
