Anyone tried Ostrich burgers? I was drawn to them in Waitrose last week and I have to say they were very tasty!
I thought I'd seen Ostrich or Kangaroo in Lidl, although an online search didn't confirm. During my online searching I saw a butcher who will sell all manner of 'exotic' meats, including horse, Zebra, Bison, Squirrel (I kid ye not). Lovely bit of squirrel Jackie (for any Friday Night Dinner fans)

Whenever I think about such things I just bury my head in the sand......

Yeah, I know it's an urban myth.

The American 'grey' Squirrel was introduced to Britain as it is larger and has more meat on it.

Boy's Own adventurer Bruce Parry in his Amazon journey noted that fishermen were using crocodile meat ( which liked) as bait to catch catfish(which he disliked). Madness... madness!

On a visit to Florida many years ago we were offered alligator steaks which we rather unadventurously declined. Should have tried them I suppose but they were such enormous portions. It's always better to be biting the alligator than the other way round, I think.

Old Orleans that used to be in the Printworks in Manchester did a Croc and Turf option on the menu and whilst on holiday in one of the Caribbean islands I had a boiled crocodile egg.

I've tried the Ostrich burgers that Lidl sometimes do. They were alright, a bit like beef burgers to be honest. At one time there was a restaurant near me called Jabula that sold all kinds of exotic stuff like Kudu, Zebra and Springbok. I didn't fancy any of it. The only other exotic foods I've tried are Wild Boar (In Tuscany) and Venison.
