Hi all,

I'm mike, just starting riding again after 5 years out the saddle. I used to have an Orbea race bike but stupidly sold it to pay off a credit card and never rode again. I'm now turning 30 and want to get fit again so I've got a very old Dawes race bike to get going.

if anyone can recommend a group or know anyone in the area who would like a cycling buddy (i dont exercise well on my own!) That would be great.

Anyways, thats me. Hello! :becool:

Oundle is just south west of peterborough, got some nice country roads over here so seems ideal for some nice rides! I pick my bike up tomorrow so will give it a good once over and head out in the afternoon!

Thanks for the hellos!

oundle area is lovely for cycling - you can head northwest to the lumpy bits or east for flat , surrounded by quiet roads - your'll love it - welcome back

A tend to stick around the villages this way, Glapthorn and cotterstock. Try to get out a couple of times after work, I work in Peterborough. My bike is a bit more vintage, got it when I was 16, now 33  plan to upgrade when I prove I can stick to it. How often do you cycle? i'm still building up fitness so tend to get passes by everyone else, though I did overtake a horse and rider the other day lol

I cycle quite often and like a decent ride at the weekend, on Sunday I went up to Rutland Water and made it a ton and I cycle to work every weekday and may go out in the evenings too. The viking is a heavy SS 13+kg so its hard work but fun, I'll hopefully have a better bike soon.

I did Rutland water last year, probably my longest ride so far. Weather permitting I like to go out a few evenings after work, would never make it to work cycling :blink:and the A605 is'nt very bike friendly. My bike is heavy being old and do struggle sometimes with the styles.

Go by Fortheringhay, Elton and Oundle road, its much more bike friendly, in a wee while you'll be tempted ;)
