Obviously she didn't want to wait for you, being in the centre of the lane would have made it harder and maybe you wouldn't have got bashed on the elbow, I don't filter at traffic lights (they aren't that busy around here, I'd only do it on the motorbike because I know I can get away quicker!) but you still get idiots overtaking closely through the junction even if I've waited 'my turn'.

Of course, if I had filtered in further back I wouldn't have had the problem, and with hindsight, that would have been the better option. When I say I tend to filter in one or two cars back, that doesn't mean I aim for that. I certainly do sometimes filter in further back, and often, if the gain is not worth it, don't filter at all.

I think as I passed the bus I noticed that the gaps weren't huge, but I decided that this wasn't a huge issue due to the queuing traffic ahead. Yes there was a taxi in front of her, but anyone who knows that area even slightly, knows that you'll hit another queue just after those lights at that time of day.

Piemaster, I was actually surprised how quickly I chilled about it. I was angry for about the few minutes. After that resolved to report her. Once I got to work, I decided not to bother and just to post on here to get a 'critical review' of both her driving and my cycling.

I'm loath to report too many drivers to the police as I don't want to be accused of 'crying wolf' if I ever do really need police help. Best to learn from it and prevent her and the other idiots doing it again.

Of course if anyone wanted to point the police to the video...

FWIW about the road positioning etc, the camera can only tell a small part of the story, and it can only tell that story in retrospect. Any debate about the rights and wrongs of magger's road craft have to be put in that context.

But I think we can all agree that maggers has a potty mouth, with which we hope he does not kiss his mother.

Well I'm not an experienced enough a cyclist to pass comment on your positioning, but I am an experienced enough a driver to know that "you put yourself there" is not an acceptable reason for hitting someone with your wing mirror.

Its always possible that she didn't intentionally pass close too you subsequently it could be that she has very little ability to judge the width of her vehicle.

Maybe she does not perceive that the vehicle is much wider than she is.... there again

Another selfish driver, oblivious to the harm she could cause with her driving. I wouldn't trust her with a shopping trolley, let alone a car. My initial opinion of her being selfish was immediately backed up by her (and others) positioning in the yellow hatched area of the junction.

Oh, I was hardly surprised at her blobby, marshmallow-like physique either.

+1 Many do seem to have spacial awareness problems.

But what really concerns me is that so often drivers show a total lack of concern for the squishy human being that they've just hit. Even if was a case were a cyclist was clearly at fault - she had clipped a complete numpty who had just ridden of the pavement in front of her - she should have shown some kind of concern.

If it wasn't deliberate, a "oh I'm sorry are you alright" would be more appropriate.

Have to agree, your positioning was somewhat suspect. I more often than not pull in behind the fist car at lights rather than pushing to the front, but I think I'd hesitate to get within wing mirror range of the car behind me.

Having said that, if the fat cow had clipped me like that, she'd be picking her wing mirrors up off the floor.

My god Mag hope you are OK. Just to give you a driving instructors view, If I have anyone on a bike go past me in a car I drop back to let them in. It's not rocket science that cyclist are more vulnerable than other road users and as you have already mentioned she was only going another 20 yards so what is she going to gain ?

It hacks me off that there are a hand full of drivers out there that see it in their rights to get very close or try a nudge you off the road and then claim it was your fault for being there. Driver’s "and" Riders need to be aware of their surroundings and making eye contact is a good idea to say look I am here please be careful.

You where very controlled in your actions to be honest, I know this is wrong but if someone did that to me whilst I was on a bike their wing mirror would of been in my hand next time I stopped, I would of then handed it to them through the window.

I had something similar happen to me the other day. I had a car pulled out on me, it was not as if I was going slow, quite the opposite I was doing around 20+mph, I had my light blue cycling jacket on and I ride a bike Silver Hybrid so I am not Mr. Inconspicuous but this joker in a Fiesta pulled out beside me and I nearly ended up eating Kerb, needless to say I shouted at him through the open passenger window use a few strong words and he got a little shock. I suspect that the fact he got a shock means he never saw me the muppet !

I take it you have the camera on the helmet for such occasions, I would take this to the police as I bet it's not the first time she has done this as her reactions where basically "f##k Y#u you where in my way"

As previously mention I to see you clocking the cyclist crossing the road at the start and boy you where giving it the beans along the road.
