the asda deal looks good shame my local asda dont stock them , Wilkinsons do cables at agood price and must admit have used a few and never had a problem

I have a roll of the white cable used to hang net curtains. It certainly looks the same, providing I cap the ends with ferrules, will that do the same job as outer brake cable?

I'd follow the advice given or it could be curtains for you......

The ASDA £4 kit is good value, perhaps not for top end bikes but certainly for run of the mill bikes. As well as cables, inners and outers, it has ferrules and the little cable end ferrules. The only thing missing is some gear cable specific sleeving for the final loop to the derailleur, but again, for many bikes the ordinary sleeving will do the job.
