Why would you wait the extra weeks when you can queue and get the vaccine now ?
What happens if you catch it in the meantime ?

The issue is there's not much in it between 40 and 55

ISTR that early on in the pandemic the risk of death doubled with every seven years of age, so the difference between 40 and 55 was about four times.

Obvious caveats: that was for the original strain, before widespread vaccination, and the numbers applied to populations not individuals. I don’t know if there are equivalent figures available now.
